  • Bathing suit

  • Cotton-blend trousers (pants)
  • Cotton socks
  • One light weight jumper (sweater)
  • Beach sandals
  • Light weight night clothes (pyjamas/night-gown)
  • Sweat pants/shirt
  • Casual church or "going out" clothes (summer dress, skirt)
  • Knickers
  • Runners (sneakers)
  • Book bag (backpack)
  • Address book
  • Family photographs
  • Other photographs (school, pets and friends)

REMEMBER: Don't forget to bring your EYE GLASSES or MEDICATIONS. Many American kids wear glasses. Don't worry about wearing yours!!

  • Winter Coats
  • Bath robes
  • Wool jumpers/trousers (sweaters/pants)
  • Nylon socks
  • Halter tops
  • Dressy church clothes
  • High heel shoes
  • Towels (bathroom or beach)
  • Hair dryers and curling irons
  • Expensive jewellery
  • Postal stamps
  • Candy or food

Host family gifts are NOT necessary!! The only thing they wish is for you to have a good time. However, Americans DO like to look at family photographs. More than anything, they would love to see you, your family and friends!

THE DAY OF DEPARTURE

1. Make sure you keep your number identification badge on at all times (your Project Children airport co-ordinator will provide this).

2. Place special labels on your travel bags (your Project Children co-ordinator will provide them).

3. Have a small carryon bag with you (for books, music, etc.).

4. Children requiring medication during traveling time, should put
all medication in their small carryon bag. This medication must be given to a Project Children representative. Written permission from parents or guardians must be included in order for medication to be administered.

TRAVEL TO AIRPORT
Your Northern Irish Project Children co-ordinator will have given your family information concerning your travel arrangements to the airport. No matter where you live, you will receive your travel arrangements from your area co-ordinator at a meeting one week before the trip.
